Prison Fire Safety Enhancements – Ministry of Justice


Working within a live Prison environment, 11 buildings to be fitted to the current NOMS standards for Fire Safety improvements. Design and installation of new fixed misting, smoke extract, fire alarm.

Mechanical Services
• New HP misting units to replace existing fire hose reels to all wings
• New smoke ventilation systems to ‘H’ blocks
• New smoke ventilation systems to J & K Wings
• Modifications to the existing smoke inlet ventilators to Wings J & K
• New M&E services to TV/Association areas within Wings A, B, C, D, E & F
• New boilers and zip tea boilers prison standard taps and sinks
• Introduction of new hot water drinking facilities within Wings A, B, C, D, E & F
Electrical services
• New distribution boards, UPS’s and LV supply cabling
• New cable containment as required to supplement existing
• New emergency lighting services
• New in cell wired fire detection [Safer Cells]
• New in cell radio/wireless fire detection
• Modifications to the existing fire alarm systems to incorporate additional equipment
• i.e. aspiration systems, interfaces, detection, etc
• New power supplies to new misting units
• New connections from new misting units to existing fire alarm panel for system running/fault
Commissioning
• Testing & commissioning
• O&M manuals, as fitted information and user training
